[BLOG POST] Do you ever feel forgotten by God?
Welcome back. You belong here.
Do you ever feel forgotten by God or wonder if He hears your prayers? He does, we often just struggle to see what He’s up to.
I was just reading a beautiful passage in the Scriptures about the God Who Hears, where Hagar’s son Ishmael is about 14 years old and because of a family argument, he is about to die of heat stroke in the desert of Paran.
Although God had promised Hagar that her son would be the father of a great nation, here she is watching her son die of heat stroke, cursed and forgotten by God.
Do you ever feel forgotten by God? God does not forget his promises.
It reminds me of a time when I was 18 and almost died of a deadly appendectomy and my mom was in the bathroom next to my hospital room, kneeling, pleading for my life. She tells me it was one of the worst days of her life.
But God raised me up.
After a horrible surgery, explosion and recovery gone wrong, God raised me up and gave me a second chance at life. To this day, my mom considers that day a miracle and proof that God heard her desperate plea.
And God heard Hagar.
The Bible says an angel appeared to Hagar and gave her son water to drink, brought him out of the desert and settled them in a safe part of town. God then re-affirmed to Hagar that he had not forgotten her, that He is the God Who Hears, that Ishamel means The God Who Hears and that he had seen and heard the need of the boy.
He would not forget them.
I wonder how many times you think God no longer hears your prayers, how many times you think He notices everyone else’s needs except yours.
But like the Bible says, God hears your prayers, its never easy, never perfect, but be sure that God hears your plead for mercy, you just sometimes have to wait.
My prayer for you today is that you would never give up on praying and that you would know that God is the God Who Hears you. Trust him, believe in his name and in time, he will make your name great again.
