Leadership In My Bones and Michael Jordan
I was reading an article on Phil Jackson’s book “11 Rings: The Soul of Success” (great title, btw) where Phil compares MJ to Kobe, he writes:
“He [Kobe] talked a good game, but he’d yet to experience the cold truth of leadership in his bones, as Michael had.”
I am finally beginning to learn the cold truth of leadership in my bones, for a long time I’ve chosen to hide, leave it to others, lead when it was easy. This often made me come across as arrogant, above others and out of touch with reality. I did this (and still do) to protect myself because of my own issues with fear and anxiety, afraid I couldn’t handle the tough realities, when in fact, I felt ready to do something about it.
I’m going from leading like Kobe, to leading like Michael.
Leadership is everywhere, we lead our homes, our families, our own private lives, a small business, a non-profit, a church, a network, a web-based business.
1. Do you experience leadership in your bones?
2. Do you relate to Kobe’s story or MJ’s story?
3. What has helped you become more of a leader in your bones?
Thanks for reading,
