Psalm22.mp3

Welcome back. You belong here.

I wrote this song back in March of this year in about 10 minutes, some songs come suddenly. I was in the living room, guitar in hand and the phrase “and to the nations we’ll proclaim, all the wonders of your name…” came into shape.

I had been reading Psalm 22 for about two months after my grandmother’s death on Jan 3rd, 2005th she went into the hospital on Christmas Eve, these are tough times for me as I grieve and think back on the whole thing. Grieving is on going.

Jesus quoted this psalm while on the cross and it still describes much of how I felt about my grandmother. Her death has been the greatest loss in my life, 2nd only to my father’s death now 5 years ago. My grandmother raised me since age 6, and in the Latino culture she is more than a grandmother, she is more than a mother, she was my life.

This recording is from the Bethany Church podcast page, we are doing the messages and original material from our worship services. This is a live recording from last Sunday, Nov. 20th, 2005.

Into the future,

Psalm 22
Em7 D/f#
Be not far from me O Lord
Em7 D/f#
I am poured out and alone
Em7 D/f#
All my bones are out of joint
G D/f#
And my heart has turned to You

Be not far from me O Lord
I am broken and alone
All my bones are out of joint
But my heart has turned to You

Pre-chorus
Don’t stay away
There’s no one to help but You
Don’t stay away
Where else can I stay but You, but You
(What else can I say, but You, but You)

Chorus 1
And to the nations I’ll proclaim
All the wonders of Your Name
And I will sing of Your great fame
That You are good, that You are good
That You are good, that You are good

Chorus 2
And to the nations we’ll proclaim
(what more can I say)
All the wonders of Your Name (don’t stay away)
And we will sing of Your great fame
That You are good, that You are good
That You are good, that You are good
